After burying his mentor Ser Arlan of Pennytree on a meadow beneath a tree, Dunk of Flea Bottom decides to take up the calling of knighthood himself and enters as a poor hedge knight, styled Ser Duncan the Tall, in the Tourney at Ashford. The tension builds slowly and the last twenty pages or so were riveting. Dunk's fight with Black Tom as he protects Egg was one of my favourite moments in the series thus far. There were many well-rounded characters: John the Fiddler, Ser Uthor Underleaf (what a clever cad), Ser Glendon Ball (future Kingsguard?) to name a few.
